| FORT RODD HILL AND FISGARD LIGHTHOUSE We dropped by this park on a day trip west of Victoria that encompassed Hatley Castle and China Beach. We arrived on a day that an army brass band was playing in the park. We sat on the grass under the shade of a tree and enjoyed a portion of their concert. Next, we discovered the old artillery emplacements (guarding against the dangerous Americans?) and from there we first saw the magnificent view of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Olympic Mountains on the other side. It seemed odd to be looking across this body of water back at our home state. Wandering further we found the very cute Fisgard Lighthouse and had a quick tour of the building.
