| MOCLIPS BEACH RETREAT |
| BEAUTIFUL SUNSET BEACH There's plenty to hold your interest on beautiful Sunset Beach: Collect shells: razor clams, sand dollars, crabs, and more. Wildlife: Sandpipers, seagulls, and crows are always to be found. Eagles live nearby. You may get lucky and spot a whale. Long walks: Our houses sit in the middle of a three mile stretch of sand between the Moclips River to the north and Joe Creek on the Pacific Beach State Park. Play: Make a sand castle, dam up a stream, build a fort out of driftwood, play hide-and-go-seek in the tall beach grass. Razor clam digging: On spring and autumn dates designated by the Department of Fish and Wildlife. See razor clam regulations. Considerable freedom is allowed on our beach versus the national park beaches to the north: Beach driving: 100 years ago there were no roads - the beach was the road. Beach driving is permitted in Grays Harbor and Pacific counties (check your Washington State Driver's Manual). Beach driving makes it convenient to reach distant locations (Copalis Rock, the Moclips River, Point Grenville, etc.) with small children and the elderly. Bonfires: Fires on permitted on the beach away from the dune grass. Fireworks: Fireworks are permitted on the beach for the 4th of July. Pets: Bring your dog. Dogs love the beach. |
