FISHING ON AND NEAR HOOD CANAL
There are some great places to fish so bring your pole and gear and enjoy
the beauty and excitement of the Hood Canal area.  There are several
places to obtain your fishing license on the way if you don’t have one
already.  The Brinnon General Store to the north of the Triton Cove Beach
Home and the Eldon Store to the south are just two spots.

DEVILS LAKE
A small freshwater lake to the north of the Triton Cove Beach Home,
located about two miles south of Quilcene.  Trout is generally open the last
Saturday in April through October 31. It is a small lake that you have to hike
into and has good fishing.  Catching beautiful Cutthroat trout is common
here.  Especially on a fly.

LELAND LAKE
This freshwater lake is to the north of the Triton Cove Beach Home and is
about five miles north of Quilcene on Highway 101 with a paved boat ramp.
Fishing is year-round.  You can fish for rainbow trout up to a foot long,
largemouth bass, bluegill, and crappie fishing during the warm weather.

HOOD CANAL
Hood Canal is great saltwater fishing and is home to a fabulous chum
salmon run with over one million fish. They are the most abundant wild
salmon in the state.  Chinook (King), and Coho (Silver) Salmon pass by
Triton Cove on their way to Hoodsport Hatchery or the Skokomish River .
Directly in front of the Triton Cove Beach Home is a known spot for Salmon
to feed on baitfish before heading on to their spawning grounds.  For those
fishermen (or fisherwomen) who like to relax and fish, you can even cast a
line from the hot tub on high tide.  Cutthroat Trout can also be enticed by a
fly pattern near the beach in late July through early September. Bring your
boat and launch at the Triton Cove State Park boat ramp (guests of the
Triton Cove Beach Home will receive a pass to launch your boat for free)
and tie up to the deep water buoy that is located right in front of the
house.  The State Park launch is perfect for any size boat as it is deep,
protected, and well maintained.
