| BURNABY VILLAGE MUSEUM This was a favorite to bring our twin boys when they were young. The museum recreates a turn-of-the-20th-century town with houses, shops, and a theater. The entrance building houses a vintage 1912 carousel - the highlight for the kids. The carousel has an interesting history, having started life in Leavenworth, Kansas, traveled all around the US and Canada with a carnival, and ended here in Burnaby. The attic of one of the houses holds a playroom full of wooden toys. The kids love it and the toys remind you how kids used to play before electricity, plastics, and video games. They are still the best toys. On busy weekends, the village features entertainment. Pictured here was a very amusing street entertainer singing funny songs. Another time we saw a vaudeville show in the village's theater. End your visit at the cafe and ice cream parlour.
